Crowell & Moring Partner Tyler O'Connor Testifies Before U.S. House of Representatives on Powering America's Future

WASHINGTON, Feb. 7, 2025 /PRNewswire/ -- Crowell & Moring partner Tyler O'Connortestified before the U.S. House of Representatives Energy and Commerce Committee on expanding domestic American energy production.
The hearing before the Subcommittee on Energy, titled "Powering America's Future: Unleashing American Energy," addressed how domestic American energy protects national security, lowers costs for households, and fuels economic growth, particularly in manufacturing and information technology.
O'Connor's testimony was prepared at the request of the Democratic minority on the committee and emphasized the positive impact of the Inflation Reduction Act (IRA) and the Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act (IIJA), both of which are part of the United States' "all of the above" energy agenda. He also discussed regulatory barriers, tariffs, and other policy uncertainties that face the energy industry.
"Our country is at a crossroads. We are producing record amounts of oil and gas, American manufacturing is booming thanks to the IRA and IIJA, and our geopolitical adversaries, like China and Russia, are struggling to keep pace with American ingenuity and resolve. In other words, we have unleashed American energy. However, there is still work to be done," O'Connor said.
O'Connor is an energy litigator and public policy leader in the firm's Washington, D.C. office, where he represents clients in the courts, in arbitration forums, and before the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission and Department of Energy. Prior to joining Crowell, O'Connor served as the energy counsel to the House Energy and Commerce Committee, where he played a leading role in drafting the IRA and IIJA. He was the lead House lawyer responsible for the Federal Power Act and Natural Gas Act and worked extensively on transmission, energy cybersecurity, and energy supply chain issues.
