Former Students File Lawsuit Against McDonogh School for Decades of Sexual Abuse
BALTIMORE, March 19, 2025 /PRNewswire/ --A group of former students has filed a lawsuit against McDonogh School, a private PK-12 college-preparatory school in Owings Mills, Maryland, alleging that school officials failed to prevent and address decades of child sexual abuse by multiple faculty members. The lawsuit, filed by the national law firm Andreozzi + Foote, comes under Maryland's Child Victims Act (CVA), which lifts the statute of limitations for survivors of child sexual abuse to pursue civil action.
The plaintiffs, identified by pseudonyms to protect their privacy, allege they were abused by faculty members Alvin Levy, Robert Creed, Bart Harrison, and Josette McMillan from the 1960s through the 1980s. According to the complaint, McDonogh School officials failed to protect students despite clear warning signs and allegations made against these perpetrators.
"McDonogh School had a responsibility to protect its students and failed at every turn," said Attorney Nathaniel Foote of Andreozzi + Foote. "This lawsuit is about holding institutions accountable for their negligence and ensuring that survivors have the opportunity to seek justice and healing."
An external investigation commissioned by McDonogh School in 2019 confirmed that Levy and Creed sexually abused at least 19 students, and additional faculty members were implicated in sexual misconduct. However, the lawsuit contends that the abuse was far more widespread and that school administrators knowingly ignored the risks posed by these individuals.
The plaintiffs are seeking damages for the lifelong emotional and psychological trauma they have endured as a result of the abuse and institutional negligence.
