Mario Perillo Returns to TV via A.I.
WOODCLIFF LAKE, N.J., Feb. 11, 2025 /PRNewswire/ -- Renowned travel entrepreneur MarioPerillo, fondly remembered for promoting Italy tours on national television throughout the 1980s and '90s, is making a remarkable return-this time through artificial intelligence. Since Mario's passing in 2003, his son, Steve Perillo, has carried on his legacy as the face of Perillo Tours.
With hundreds of hours of archived video footage and still photography, the opportunity to revive Mario's iconic presence became a reality through A.I. innovation.
"I wanted to do something special to mark our 80th anniversary in the travel business," said Steve Perillo, CEO of Perillo Tours. "And knowing my dad, he'd be up for any promotional idea that could sell travel!"
After months of animating still photos and seamlessly lip-syncing archival video, the interactive commercial featuring a father-and-son exchange is set to air on broadcast television starting the week of Feb 10, 2025.
"To have my father back doing commercials with me is an amazing experience," said Perillo. "I hope people remember him and his passion for his beloved Italy."
Founded in 1945 by Mario's father, Joseph Perillo, in the Bronx, NY, Perillo Tours has grown into a national leader in travel to Italy. The company has since expanded its offerings to Greece, Spain, Portugal, and Hawaii.
