WOMEN'S PRO BASEBALL LEAGUE TO HOLD HISTORIC SUMMER TRYOUTS

Baseball Superstar Alex Hugo to Lead First Women's Professional Baseball Tryouts in Over 70 Years, Registration Now Open for Players Around-the-World
BOSTON, April 10, 2025 /PRNewswire/ -- Today, the Women's Pro Baseball League(WPBL)announced that player registrationfor the 2025 summer tryouts is now open to players around the world. Offering the best women's baseball players an opportunity to showcase their talents and earn a spot to play in the League's inaugural season, sign-ups are open until May 7th, 2025. Marking a historic moment in women's sports, the WPBL tryouts will be the first held for women's baseball in over 70 years.
Taking place in July and August of 2025, the WPBL's tryouts will be held across the U.S. andinternationally andwill be by invitation for eligible players. Leading the tryouts will bewomen's baseball superstarand WPBL Special Advisor,Alex Hugo,who is theonly two-time USA Baseball Sportswoman of the Year Award Winner (2019, 2024) and Team USA Silver Medalist at the 2024 WBSC Women's Baseball World Cupwhere she was Team Captain. Additionally, Hugo has been a Homerun Derby Xparticipantsince 2022 and,in 2023,became a Minor League Roving Instructor for the Athletics (formerly Oakland Athletics).

Following the League's tryouts taking place this summer, up to 200 participants will be invited to the WPBL's draft in October.
The WPBL is the only professional women's baseball league in America and will launch with six teams in the spring of 2026 and consist of a regular season, playoffs, and championship.League Co-Founder and baseball pioneer, Dr. Justine Siegal, is the first woman to coach a professional men's baseball team and to pitch batting practice in Major League Baseball. In addition, Maybelle Blair, sports icon and former professional baseball player in the All-American Girls Professional Baseball League, was named Honorary Chair of the WPBL Advisory Board comprised of female trailblazers in sports and business.
